Patricia Tidwell, PhD, LCSW is a psychotherapist who lives and works in New York City. She provides therapy for adults and couples. She has a special interest in empowering women and runs groups of all kinds for women.

Patricia has presented and spoken internationally on the subject of women’s empowerment in their personal as well as professional lives. She presented papers on women’s empowerment around fertility and motherhood in the following venues: April 2011 at Division 39, the psychoanalytic Division of the American Psychological Association; July 2011 at IARPP (International Association of Relational Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis) in Madrid; November 2013 at the Association for the Psychoanalysis of Culture and Society.

She discussed key issues around women’s professional empowerment at the re:Gender (formerly the National Council for Research on Women) annual conference in June 2012. This presentation was based on her doctoral dissertation, which included a quantitative research study among 275 women with MBA’s exploring the relationship between women’s sense of self and agency (empowerment) and their emotional conflicts around success. This continues to be an area of on-going interest in her clinical work. She uses these findings as a foundation for workshops and discussion groups for therapists, counselors and coaches.
